Mire való a vizsgálat?

Arra, hogy segítse a növekedési hormon (GH) hiány, illetve a kevésbé gyakori túltermelés diagnózisának felállítását; hogy vizsgálni lehessen az agyalapi mirigy működését; hogy követni lehessen a GH kezelés hatékonyságát.

Mikor kell a vizsgálatot elvégezni?

Ha a gyermek a lassú növekedés tüneteit mutatja, alacsony termetű, és visszamaradt testi fejlődésű, vagy ha a felnőttnek alacsony a csontsűrűsége, csökkent az izomereje és magasak a lipid szintjei, ami GH és IGF-1 elégtelen termelődésére utal; ha egy gyermek a gigantizmus vagy egy felnőtt az akromegália tüneteit mutatja, ami fokozott GH és IGF-1 termelésből eredhet; ha az agyalapi mirigy működési zavara gyanítható.

Hogyan készüljek elő a vizsgálatra?

Általában nincs szükség külön felkészülésre, legfeljebb éhgyomri vérvétel szükséges.
