A szisztémás lupusz eritematózus (SLE) felismerésére és állapotának követésére.
Ha az ANA (antinukleáris antitest) vizsgálat eredménye pozitív és a betegnek olyan panaszai és tünetei vannak, amelyek SLE gyanúját is felvethetik. Ezek közé tartozik a hosszabb ideje fennálló fáradtság és gyengeségérzés, ízületi gyulladásra utaló fájdalom egy vagy több ízületben, pillangóra emlékeztető bőrpír az orron és az orcákon, ezzel együtt fokozott fényérzékenység. Ha ezek alapján beigazolódik a betegség gyanúja, később akkor is érdemes lehet rendszeres időközönként elvégezni a vizsgálatot a betegség nyomon követésére.
